Bill Clarkson, president of The Westminster Schools, will retire at the end of 2014, the school announced today.
Westminster is Atlanta’s second-largest independent school, with more than 1,800 students. Clarkson has led Westminster for 23 years. He joined the school in 1991 and was its fourth president.
Westminster has launched a search for a new president who will take over on July 1, 2014.
“Westminster is among the finest schools in the nation and is profound in its commitment to educating the mind, the body and the spirit of its students,” Clarkson said in a statement. “The passion of my colleagues for this mission, and the deep satisfaction I have gained from working alongside them, is unmatched in my life experience. My years at Westminster have been the happiest of my career.”
