Wesleyan School is proud to announce that the school’s Lower School Dean of Counseling and Student Services Nancy Jones is a published author. Along with co-author David Young, Jones has recently co-authored an Acting Out Card Deck. The cards are for educators, small group leaders, and others working with older elementary school aged children.
“This resource is for educators and other adults looking to help students think through how they would handle common situations in elementary school,” said Jones. “Kids come across situations that require strong social and emotional skills, good problem-solving strategies, and necessitate being able to discern right from wrong, dangerous from safe. This product allows students to act out the scenarios, with or without preparation, and then use the included discussion questions to evaluate the outcome of their choices.”
Jones’ co-author David Young has published many resources for school counselors and educators. He approached Jones about collaborating on an elementary school model of the middle school cards he has also published.
