Ways Children Can Honor Soldiers This 4th of July

A note from my friends at Pebble Tossers!

What better way to celebrate our country’s freedom than to thank the brave people who serve our nation and protect our freedom every day.  Here are some ways kids and families can remember our military and vets this 4th of July:

–  Get matched with a soldier at AnySoldier.com and send him or her a card, movie, socks or a whole care package!  You can learn where your soldier is stationed, read their journal entries, and see what special items they need the most.  This site is addicting!

–  Operation Stars & Stripes: This organization seeks to support active duty personnel, reservists, national guardsmen, veterans, and their families by offering support and encouragement through care packages and assistance domestically to enhance the quality of life of service members, veterans, and their families.

They have an urgent need for postage stamps, drink mix singles, Ziploc bags, playing cards, new DVDs, new CDs, travel games, black ink pens, pistachios, and volunteers to help cut fabric and sew neck-tie coolers.

Flag Waver:  Be sure to fly your flags with pride throughout the month of July.  Bring an extra to a neighbor who doesn’t have one or deliver some to a nearby Retirement Center or Cemetery.

Happy Volunteering!
