Given last week’s travel survey results (Are you willing to travel on an airplane before a Covid vaccine?), it appears more people are planning to travel than not. The key is to be a responsible traveler (mask up, sanitize, social distance from others and stay within your travel group). Below are some highlights of current restrictions/requirements/openings.
- Delta and Southwest Airlines are blocking middle seats through Sept 30th, but Delta has stated that they will extend the policy, likely to the end of the year. Delta surveys show that blocking middle seats is the #1 reason customers are flying Delta. This approach will likely pay off for Delta long term!
- Hawaii is considering extending the 14 day mandatory quarantine past Sept 1.
- Some Caribbean Islands are open to US visitors, but only with a negative Covid test. Check each island for their specific travel requirements. The following islands require a negative test, but no quarantine time: Aruba, Antigua, Barbados, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Dutch side of St. Maarten, St. Kitts & Nevis (opening in October) and Turks & Caicos.
- Maine: You can forgo the 14 day quarantine if you obtain a negative Covid test 72 hours prior to arrival.
- Most ski resorts plan to open with Covid restrictions in place (i.e. getting on lifts with only people in your group and more outdoor dining. We may even see some mountains limit the number of skiers per day)
