If you were one of the lucky ones who traveled to Europe in 2021, pat yourself on the back! You likely enjoyed a once in a lifetime opportunity with regards to the lack of tourists!
Everyone knew this would happen. That is, travel bouncing back with a vengeance! Over the last 18 months, travel recovery predictions have been all over the place, but recent tourist travel numbers and actions by airlines show the travel recovery is steamrolling down the runway.
The U.S. travel & tourism sector could possibly exceed 2019 and reach $2 trillion in 2022! The recent lifting of international travel restrictions could provide a year-over-year boost of roughly 228% in 2022 (international spending by travelers in the U.S.). These big numbers suggest many more people are traveling (and booking travel) again. I’m seeing this now in rising flight prices and accommodations booking up earlier than normal.
TIP: Don’t wait to book travel! 🙂
As a result, airlines are launching an unprecedented amount of new routes in Europe. Delta said it will operate 90% more transatlantic flights in summer 2022, as compared to summer 2021. United proclaimed that next summer will be “the busiest over the Atlantic, ever”. For more information click on “Airlines Go All-In on Europe for Summer 2022 with New Routes”.
Please remember to travel responsibly, wear your mask and reconsider travel if you are elderly or immune-compromised! And remember to check your destination travel restrictions/requirements before and during planning, as well as double-checking before departure!
