In celebration of its 30th anniversary, and as a commitment to the greater Atlanta community, The Davis Academy is launching a new community initiative called Nurture. After three decades of developing extraordinary educational experiences for its students, the school is thrilled to offer special programming and resources that will engage, connect, and support families with young children throughout greater Atlanta.
“We believe families thrive when they have a support network (a village) that has their back,” said Amy Helman-Darley, Nurture’s Outreach and Engagement Manager. “Nurture will offer an array of programs and resources that will help families from all backgrounds throughout Atlanta explore their identities, connect with one another, and discover the many local resources that are available to help guide them through the amazing and sometimes complex journey of raising children in today’s world.”
Nurture programs are designed to spark connection, growth, and inspiration among children and adults. Families and tots can connect through experiential learning, interactive playtime, and social engagement during Mini Cub and Cub Club programs and Parenting Workshops. Mini Cubs is the perfect place for families with newborns and tots (6 months – 2 years old) to meet and connect with others who are discovering the unique wonders of this precious stage of life. Cub Club activities are designed to meet the developmental and social needs of children ages 3-5, create meaningful connections between caregivers, and provide engagement opportunities for families. Whether someone is a first-time parent or they have multiple children, are a grandparent, or caregiver, the parenting workshops and resources provide all nurturers with support and guidance as they prepare for and raise their young children. According to Taryn Rioseco, a member of Nurture’s Advisory Council, and Founder of Here We Grow, “There is an important push for ‘self-care’ in the modern-day parenting world. We know that for a parent to be fully present and engaged with their child, they must put themselves first and also have a landing place to receive the same type of support. I n order to make self-care possible, we need a greater emphasis on community-care! Parents are more burned out than ever and there’s a crucial need to return to the village way of raising children and families. That’s what Nurture so beautifully aims to do.”
The exceptional Nurture team and its Advisory Council, comprised of educators, spiritual leaders, musicians, counselors, psychologists, coaches, innovators, and artists, will support Nurture through their expertise of professional knowledge across all areas of child and family development.
