Hope that everyone’s summer is starting off fun and safe. I wanted to offer a few reminders to help stay safe and prevent our residents from becoming victims of crimes.
Today is a good reminder of Georgia heat!!! With that lets remember to not leave children or pets in unattended vehicles. Plan your trips accordingly, running in “real quick” always takes longer than expected. We have issued citations and arrested individuals for leaving children and pets in their vehicles in the past.
In hot weather people also tend to leave the windows down in their cars and homes. An open window might be an open invitation to someone who is looking to commit crimes in our city. I recommend only cracking your vehicles window so a hand can’t reach in. Also be very careful while going to your local pool, double check that all your doors are locked and valuables are not left in view. Pool/ Tennis clubs may be targeted because of increased traffic. Possibly have a pair of adults walk the parking lot to keep an eye on vehicles and call 911 immediately if you see suspicious vehicles.
Let’s work together to have a safe and crime free summer.
