St. Jude the Apostle Catholic School will be showing a screening of “The Race to Nowhere.”

This is a fantastic film about the silent epidemic hitting our schools. A concerned mother turned filmmaker aims her camera at the high-stakes, high-pressure culture that has invaded our schools and our children’s lives, creating unhealthy, disengaged, unprepared and stressed-out youth. Featuring the heartbreaking stories of young people in all types of communities who have been pushed to the brink, educators who are burned out and worried that students aren’t developing the skills they need, and parents who are trying to do what’s best for their kids, Race to Nowhere points to the silent epidemic in our schools: cheating has become commonplace; students are disengaged; stress-related illness and depression are rampant; and many young people arrive at college and the workplace unprepared and uninspired.

This is for parents of all ages. It is a great prevention film based on current research. For those of you who have read Madeline Levine’s book “The Price of Privilege,” you know that it is those communities where the average family income is 70,000 and above that are having the greatest concerns with adolescent depression, anxiety, substance abuse and suicide.

Seeing this film may change your life and the life of your children. To purchase tickets go to: http://www.racetonowhere.com/screenings/st-jude-apostle-catholic-school
