I really love to surprise my kids. They like it too (but probably won’t admit it). I cleared mine and my husband’s calendar and headed downtown with our boys (and one friend) yesterday morning. During the short drive downtown the boys were peppering me with questions: Where are we going? The Fox? CNN Center? A Braves Game? The Aquarium? My answer was the same every time: “I’m not answering any questions”.
So…when we pulled into the parking lot at the corner of Luckie and Cone streets the boys knew EXACTLY what we were about to do even though I hadn’t told them a thing. There just happened to be a GINORMOUS Ferris wheel towering above the parking lot! Walt didn’t know it existed but Troy had seen a friend’s post about it on Instagram and was intrigued.
We bought our tickets, had an official SkyView photo taken in front of the green screen then hopped into our gondola. There’s one VIP gondola that costs more and has a glass bottom and leather seats but we opted for the less expensive ride and it was fabulous. The views were spectacular and even though it was a cloudy day we could still see all the way to Kennesaw Mountain! All 5 of us thoroughly enjoyed our 4 spins on the giant SkyView Wheel. It wasn’t cheap so I doubt it is something we’ll do often. However, all of us want to go back at night to see the night sky view. I highly recommend this be added to your “things to do in Atlanta” list!
The official SkyView Atlanta Website has all the details you need about parking, pricing, hours etc. You have plenty of time to check this off your list before school starts next week!
