With site preparation underway to soon house a community-centric district with performing arts center, family theatre, park and mixed-use retail and housing, branding elements have also been in development. City of Sandy Springs leaders will unveil a new district name and logo on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 5 p.m. The uncovering will take place on the construction site. The public is invited to attend. “This project is a defining one for the city. We wanted to create a name and brand that connects with the strong sense of place and pride we have for the entire Sandy Springs community, while at the same time, creating a brand reflective of the shared ownership within this specific area,” said Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul. As the community’s “neighborhood,” Mayor Paul also invites representatives from neighborhoods throughout the city to bring to the event a jar of dirt. The soil will be combined to symbolize the this site will become everyone’s neighborhood. The event will begin promptly at 5 p.m. Participants are asked to enter via the Mt Vernon entrance to the construction site.
