Natalie Kessler, a senior at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School, has been named a STAR student by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Foundation, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and the Georgia Department of Education. Nominated high school seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the three-part SAT and be in the top 10 percent, or top 10 students, of their class based on grade point average.
Kessler and the STAR Teacher she has selected—Spanish and French teacher Gerard Gatoux—have been invited to attend a special breakfast hosted by the Midtown Atlanta Rotary on Feb. 25.
“Natalie is a perfectionist, whose love of learning is admirable,” said Gatoux, a third-time STAR teacher who instructs Kessler in AP “Her work ethics are unparalleled, and her integrity is undeniable.”
Kessler, the daughter of William Kessler and Elizabeth Steinhaus of Atlanta, is a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Science and Spanish National Honor Societies. She serves as vice president of the Mu Alpha Theta math honor society, and last year was tapped for Holy Innocents’ Cum Laude Society, which recognizes juniors whose GPA is in the top 10 percent of their class.
A member of the Golden Bears varsity tennis team, Kessler was named the Most Valuable Player in 2010, and was given the Coaches Award in 2012.
She also volunteers with Dream Makers, coaching handicapped children, and works with the Change-A-Life Club, tutoring students at the Sandy Springs Mission.
Kessler, who is planning for a career in medicine, has worked for several summers as an administrative assistant at Atlanta’s Breast Care Specialists, and has shadowed medical personnel at Northside Hospital and Emory University Hospital.
She plans to have a career in medicine.
