Peachtree Charter Middle School was notified by the DCSD charter office that the charter review committee would recommend denial of the current petition to the Board of Education. Peachtree was offered and did accept an additional opportunity to revise the petition and re-submit for approval on January 15, 2016.
We are currently making suggested changes to autonomy requirements and will post the new petition in December for all parents to review over the December holiday break. We will then ask that parents and staff again vote on the amended charter on January 8, 2016 from 7:00 am-5:00 pm in the Main Office at Peachtree Charter Middle School. The number of votes cast, meaning participation by PCMS families and staff, is reviewed by DCSD to insure the community’s approval and want of this petition and will be considered before a possible recommendation of approval can be given.
Parents need to plan to show up and vote on January 8th!
