What to do if you notice your DeKalb water bill is extraordinarily high

Thank you to Nancy Jester for the quick response to my request about what to do if you get a crazy water bill from DeKalb County:

Following Commissioner Nancy Jester’s call for a moratorium on the disconnection of residential water accounts, DeKalb Interim CEO Lee May has issued a moratorium on the disconnection of residential water accounts that have been contested through the Utility Customer Operations Center.

Water customers who believe their bill is in error should notify the Utility Customer Operations Center at 774 Jordan Lane in Decatur, or call (404) 371-3000.  A new Customer Assurance Team has been assembled and dedicated to helping residents work through billing disputes.  Those that report a billing error will have their account reviewed by the team and an independent third party will mediate issues should the customer want further review of team findings.

There will be no water service disconnections for accounts with balances in dispute and have paid their average bill through the end of 2016.
