The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. Our Task Force is a privately funded organization whose purpose is to encourage participation on the National Day of Prayer. It exists to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families. The Task Force represents a Judeo Christian expression of the national observance, based on our understanding that this country was birthed in prayer and in reverence for the God of the Bible.
If you know of any organized prayer activities please feel free to add a comment to this post. I’ll add the information from my church to the comments.

This Thursday is the National Day of Prayer, and we hope that all who can will join us in Prayer in our chapel, or wherever possible, to thank God for our country, our church, our lives, and our families. Truly, we thank God for everything and this is a great day to lift our prayers to God and ask for guidance during these times.
The United States Congress established the National Day of Prayer in 1952. Citizens are encouraged to turn to God for prayer, thankfulness, and meditation.
Please remember those affected by the recent events at the Boston Marathon and explosion in Waco, Texas, in your prayers.
Our chapel will be open and available for prayer from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm.
I saw a notice in the Crier and confirmed it on Calvary’s website that they are having a Pray for America service tomorrow from noon to 1pm. My girlfriend and I went a couple of years ago and it was great – local community leaders, religious leaders, etc led prayers for everything from our local schools and community to our national leaders and country.
