I’m addicted to reading. My family makes fun of me for getting lost in books and becoming oblivious to my surroundings. If I find a good book I become obsessed with finishing it and have a hard time pacing myself! I read really fast but have to really be careful before I start a book or my responsibilities will get neglected!
I finished a really great but long book this weekend and am biding my time before starting a new one. So, I decided to check out Goodreads and see what my friends recommend. I had never entered any of my books so I did that first, then started perusing the website. I think I’m going to love Goodreads so thanks to Annemarie and Debbie for recommending it a while ago!
In case any of you are readers in search of a good book, I thought I’d share with you my three favorite books from my holiday reading:
To Kill Mockingbird by Harper Lee – My 8th grader is reading it this semester for his English Literature class and I can’t believe I had never read it!! I borrowed it from him to read in December and he had to start it yesterday for school. I’m so glad I read it so now I can have a mini-book club with my son! This book is now definitely on my top ten list. If you haven’t read it you should!
The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton – This is my Meadowlake Book Club’s pick for February (Thanks Katie T.!) I loved this book…it weaves through past and present and has mystery, family, love and so much more!
The Key, by C.B. Day – written by a Dunwoody resident and is the second in The Heaven’s Gate trilogy. I loved the first one and was tickled when Monica sent me an embargoed copy to read before it was released! As of 1/3/13 anyone can get it on Kindle! I can’t wait for the third but Monica says I’ll have to wait a while because she has some more research to do!
