Mt. Bethel Christian Academy (MBCA) had 16 Middle School Latin students earn medals on the National Classical Etymology Exam. Zoe Altizer, Reau Autera and Isabel Robertson (pictured) earned gold medals. Hannah Chang, Brady Juliani, Sarah Grace Kimery, Clay Morgan, Drew Rubinacci, Daniel Servaes, and Elizabeth Shultz earned silver medals. Meg Blakeley, Isaac Burton, Cassi Curasi, Mackenzie Kahill, Hunter McCown, and Mattie Walker earned bronze medals. The National Classical Etymology Exam is sponsored by the National Junior Classical League. The exam is designed to test a student’s knowledge of both Latin and Greek derivatives and their usage in the English language. Almost 5,000 students, in grades 6-12, participated in the exam nationwide.
Lynne Segars, MBCA’s Middle School Latin teacher, said, “The National Classical Etymology Exam offers our students an opportunity to utilize the Latin knowledge they have worked hard to acquire during their years at MBCA.” Segars continued, “16 medals is a new school record at MBCA and I am excited for each student!”
