Mt. Bethel Christian Academy Pursues Property for New High School

Entering their 16th year as a K – 8 Christ-centered, private preparatory school, Mt. Bethel Christian Academy and Mt. Bethel UMC are pleased to announce a preliminary agreement to purchase the Shirley Blumenthal Park property in East Cobb for a new private high school. The agreement is subject to acceptance by the congregation of Mt. Bethel UMC.

This Christ-centered, college preparatory high school would serve as an extension of Mt. Bethel Christian Academy. “The original vision of the school always included a high school, and we are hopeful to see that vision become reality with the purchase of this attractive property,” said Michael Ostergard, Chair of the Academy’s Board of Trustees. “The process has just begun with this agreement. We still have a lot of important work — architectural design, engineering studies, and fundraising — but we are excited to get started.”

“This campus is a perfect fit for the new school,” said Jim Callis, Head of School. “While our kindergarten through eighth grade classes will remain adjacent to the church, this proposed site would provide a convenient location only six miles away.” The high school hopes to open in the fall of 2014 and would be the only Christ-centered, private high school in East Cobb County.

Mt. Bethel Christian Academy opened in 1998 and is a fully accredited school for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. For more information about the school, visit mtbethelchristian.org.
