Note from Audra: My son only knew O.D. for a few months but he made a huge impact on my 16 year old in such a short time. The football team lovingly referred to him as “O.D.” (Old Davis) and held a vigil to “hug it out” last night at 9 PM shortly after Coach Davis passed away. Sadly I never met him, but I have a good feeling he is in a much better place than I am right now.
Note from DHS Principal Tom McFerrin on 8/24 Dear Wildcat Family, It is with great sadness that I report that our beloved counselor and coach, Kent Davis, passed away yesterday from a heart condition. He had undergone bypass surgery. Kent was such a special person and valuable member of our Wildcat Family. We will have a crisis team to support our faculty, staff and students during this difficult time. Please keep Coach Davis’s family in your thoughts and prayers. Thomas S. McFerrin, Ed. S. |
Note from DHS Head Football Coach Mike Nash on 8/23 Dear Wildcat Family, As word seems to be getting around, I feel it is important for all of you to know that Coach Davis took a turn for the worse this morning and has passed away this evening. I know that all of you will be extremely sad to hear this news. O.D. Loved you ALL very much and he knew that you all loved him. I am currently at the hospital with the family but will be back at the field at 9:00pm if any of you want to talk or comfort each other. Coach Davis is a member of our FAMILY and it always hurts when we lose a family member. I am here for you all of you need me as well as the rest of your coaches. Hug each other a little tighter tonight. Coach Nash |
