Jr. Beekeeper Class

Join us for our first Junior Beekeepers program this spring hosted by the Nature Center in conjunction with the Metro Atlanta Beekeepers Association. It’ll be a fun day! Our full-day program will be held on Saturday, April 26th from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Cost is $25 per child. The children (ages 7-12*) are welcome to participate in a live beehive inspection**, which includes “suiting up” with veil, gloves, etc., a creative exercise or activity, watching/listening to a presentation about honeybees, helping with honey extraction, honey tasting, etc. The children will also receive a certificate of participation and a small jar of honey to take home.

*Children under the age of 9 must have a parent or guardian present at all times. The facilities will have a kitchen and restroom facilities, but children should bring their lunch, and plenty to drink. (We will have extra water.) All attendees must sign a standard Release/Waiver form.

**All activities will be supervised by Metro Atlanta Beekeepers Association members, and safety clothing (bee suits, gloves and veils) will be provided. The program will be held “Rain or Shine!”
