Holy Innocents’ Begins New Flagship Building

Groundbreaking-w-bishop-smaller1Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School near Sandy Springs broke ground May 22 on a new Math, Science and Dining Hall building that has been designed as a campus flagship building.

The 59,000-square-foot, three-story structure will include state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories for math, science, and technology programs, a robotics lab, and a media literacy suite for broadcast/journalism classes. The lower floor will house a communal dining hall that will seat 500, and a central kitchen to serve Lower, Middle, and Upper School students.

Traffic flow in and out of campus will also be improved, and renovations for the current Upper School Riley Building will include adding a new entrance, re-purposing classrooms, and updating the Malcolm Library.

New facilities are expected to be open for the 2015-2016 school year.

The building, designed by Atlanta’s Collins Cooper Carusi Architects, Inc., is being constructed by Hodges & Hicks General Contractors, LLC.

A $22.5-million “One School Campaign,” which is making the building possible, is the largest building campaign in Holy Innocents’ 55-year history.

“For more than 50 years, Holy Innocents’ has staked out a special place among Atlanta’s best schools,” said Dave Stockert, campaign chair. “With this campaign, we build on a tradition of generosity and success, to be able to offer the best possible environment for the ongoing growth and development of our students.”
