History Alive – Saturday, July 18, 2020, 9:30-11am
History Alive is back with The Winston Churchill You Never Knew, presented by Joe Wilson.
As one of the most revered leaders in modern history, Sir Winston Churchill inspired his nation and the world with his passionate and compelling speeches during some of history’s darkest hours. A British politician, army officer and writer, he was appointed Prime Minister by King George VI of the United Kingdom from 1940-1945 and again from 1951-1955. During World War II, he became a friend of America’s President Franklin Roosevelt and Josef Stalin, leader of the Soviet Union. Called “the Big Three”, the three leaders formed an alliance that led to the defeat of the Nazis. Born in 1874, he lived through two world wars and saw the first cars, first planes and first astronauts in space.
