Georgia mandates new vaccinations for seventh graders

I have a rising 7th grader so I’m calling my Doctor today to find out if he has the correct shots.   I want to be prepared on registration day otherwise it will be a nightmare trying to take care of this AND register for school all at once!  Read and be prepared if you have a rising 7th grader!

Per the Atlanta Business Chronicle:

Effective 7/1, Georgia requires a new set of immunizations for all students entering the seventh grade, WABE reports.

One shot is a combination booster vaccine for tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis. The other required vaccination protects against meningococcal meningitis.

The mandated immunizations are based on recommendations from the American Society of Pediatrics, the station reports.

Parents can get waivers for religious or medical reasons.
