The High Museum in Atlanta and 10 others will let in visitors for free on Sept. 25 as part of the Sixth Annual Smithsonian Museum Day.
The metro museums will imitate the Smithsonian Institution’s free admission policy on that Saturday and open their doors gratis to visitors who download the Museum Day Ticket from www.smithsonian.com. Visitors who present the official pass will gain free admission for two people to participating museums and cultural venues. One ticket is permitted per household, per e-mail address.
Visitors to the High can view “Salvador Dali: The Late Work,” “Signs of Life: Photographs by Peter Sekaer” and the museum’s permanent collection.
Last year, more than 300,000 museum goers and 1,300 venues participated in Museum Day 2009.
The metro Atlanta museums participating as of Sept. 16 are:
- Archibald Smith Plantation Home
- Art On 5
- Barrington Hall
- Bulloch Hall
- CDC’s Global Health Odyssey Museum
- Center for Puppetry Arts
- Hammonds House Museum
- Marietta Museum of History
- The Hudgens Center for the Arts
