Sandy Springs resident Nancy Horne has suffered losses that which most of us could not bear. In 2004, her best friend and co-worker Patti succumbed to Acute Mylogenous Leukemia having been diagnosed less than 2 weeks prior. Just 18 months later, Nancy’s son Jeffrey Horne, called from college to say he wasn’t feeling well and in January of 2008, he died of leukemia at the age of 20 years. Five months later, Nancy’s other son Brian Horne died at the age of 19 of sudden cardiac arrest and acute respiratory failure due to complications from the bone marrow transplant he gave to try to save his brother Jeffrey.
Both young men were vocal in expressing the need for research for a cure and participated in a variety of charitable activities on behalf of this cause. 100% of the net proceeds from the Flap Jack Dash will be donated to Jeffrey’s Voice. Jeffrey’s Voice, Inc., is a 501(c)3 public charity, with a single and very clear mission … to fund research that will lead to a cure for leukemia and blood cancers.
