Everyone can be a Detective at Dunwoody Library
A large group of free programs and activities, many based on the theme “Everyone Can Be a Detective”, are scheduled from 10 to 3 this Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Dunwoody Library, 5339 Chamblee-Dunwoody Road. Highlights include CSI Science Academy, Quest for Hidden Treasure, Dunwoody Police Detectives, and Heroes and Villains story time. Key Activities
CSI Academy—Sample the work of forensic scientists, including taking DNA samples, dusting for fingerprints, and using science to analyze other clues. Learn from Big Thinkers Science Exploration. (children, families) 10:30 & 12:00
Book Collecting ABCs—Learn what determines a book’s value, how to buy and sell collectible books and how to care for your collection. (adults, teens) 10:30
Plant A Flower at the Library—Help beautify the library entrance by planting fall flowers with the Dunwoody Garden Club and the Friends of the Dunwoody Library. (all) 10:30-12:30
Quest for Hidden Treasure—Help to solve a mystery and find treasure by following clever clues throughout the library. (family teams) 11:00-1:00
Book Appraisals—Bring your old, unique and mysterious books to have them evaluated and appraised by local antiquarian book specialists Jim Strawn & Cliff Gaubert. (all) 11:00-12:30
Detectives Use Their Senses—Use your five senses to identify and analyze clues. (children, families) 11:30-1:30
Dunwoody Police Detectives—Hear from Dunwoody Police on the detective methods and resources they use to solve local crimes. (adults, teens) 1:30
Heroes and Villains—Enjoy professional storyteller Sherry Norfolk as she shares tales of whimsical creatures, daring deeds and spine-tingling adventures. (children, families) 2:00
Join the Library—Learn about the library’s many classic and modern resources and services, meet the library staff and get a library card. (all) 10:00 – 3:00
Contribute Used Books—Bring books, DVDs, and CDs in good condition to donate to the Friends of the Dunwoody Library’s book sales. Join the Friends to provide ongoing help to the library. (all) 10:00 – 3:00
