The Varsity Dunwoody Wildcat Wrestling team defeated Marist in the finals to secure becoming back to back 6A Region 4 Champions!
Dunwoody started off the Region Duals Tournament on Saturday, January 6th with the #1 seed and a first round bye. The semifinal matchups were Dunwoody vs. Riverwood and Marist vs. Pius. Dunwoody dominated Riverwood with a final score of 56-14. Marist barely beat Pius 33-30. In the championship match Dunwoody couldn’t be beat with a final score of 55-16 over Marist.
Competing Varsity wrestlers were Jared Katz, Dylan Lynn, Alex McKissick, Charlie Ruark, Andrew Fiddler, Colin Murphy, Michael Lowenstein, Walli Whited, Dustin Ho, Ethan Rogers, Adam Gromatzky, David Remigailo, Altyn DiPaolo, Luke Cole, and Steven Crespo. The team owes much of their success to Head Coach Luke McSorley and assistant coaches David Viggiano, Ottie Pendleton, Art Brannon, Kedrick Harvey, and Hal Breffle.
The team will compete in the State Duals Tournament on Friday, January 19th at North Forsyth High School. The Varsity will also compete in the Dekalb County Tournament on January 26-27th in the Dunwoody High School gym.
