Grounded Growth is an eye-catching sculpture that will also serve as a bike rack for visitors to Dunwoody’s Brook Run Park.

Dunwoody, GA – July 5, 2022 – The community is invited to join members of the Dunwoody City Council, Dunwoody Art Commission and Bike Walk Dunwoody for the unveiling of a new public art installation at Brook Run Park on Thursday, July 7 at 4:30 p.m. Grounded Growth is a beautiful and functional sculpture that will serve as a bike rack for residents and visitors. Designed and fabricated by Dunwoody artist Huelani Mei Fogleman, Grounded Growth is located near the Great Lawn and Amphitheater.

“I am thrilled to share Grounded Growth with our community,” said Mayor Lynn Deutsch. “This vibrant addition to our public art scene is going to be a great place to park bikes, meet up with friends and enjoy.”

Last year, the City issued a request for proposals for an art installation that would be “aesthetically pleasing and functional for bicyclists and pedestrians.” Fogleman’s design was selected by the Dunwoody Art Commission.

Grounded Growth consists of three flowers that are 10 to 15 feet in height. The centers of the flowers are made of recycled bicycle wheels. Eight individual bike rack leaves surround the stems, and each can secure at least two bikes. Fogleman used bright colors for the sculpture’s powder-coated finish.

“As an artist and local resident, I understand the importance of increasing public art in our community,“ said Fogleman. “This sculpture reflects the welcoming diversity our city offers, while being a true depiction of the constant growth and motion Dunwoody encompasses.”
