Dunwoody residents are making their voices heard in the beginning phases of an update to the city’s parks and recreation and open space master plans, with a common theme of more green, less concrete and better communication.
More than 100 residents gathered at the Dunwoody library Tuesday night to hear planning experts speak about what they have done thus far and to give their own input.
The update to the city’s master plans is being funded by a $500 thousand portion of a $4 million settlement from DeKalb County to specifically benefit area park projects.
The update will cover all city parks, but Brook Run Park will have its own separate master plan. According to city officials, in 2005 $11.5 million was promised to the park as part of a never-realized $96 million bond package. The city spent $4 million on the park.
