The Dunwoody Nature Center announces the return of its summer concert series, kicking off with Dunwoody’s favorite garage band, The Bad Neighbors, on Saturday, May 18th. This year’s concerts promise to build on the excitement of last year’s shows with the addition of the craft beers from Mother Earth Brewing (the first brewery in the United States to be awarded LEED® Gold certification status from the United States Green Building Council) served by the experts from Dunwoody’s own Moondog Growlers. The Nature Center concerts promise to be the best way to stay cool during the hot summer months under the trees of the newly restored meadow.
Guests to the concerts are encouraged to pack a picnic along with a blanket or a beach chair for the evening, but, with this lineup of bands there will probably be more dancing than sitting. A fun evening for the whole family – think of a Chastain concert without the drive or traffic – visitors are also welcome to cool off in Wildcat Creek during the hot summer nights or come inside our education building to learn more about the natural world.
As always, the Nature Center concerts are free to member families. Admission is $5 for non-member adults, $3 for non-member students, and free to children 3 and under. While the Nature Center concerts are always family friendly, this year’s acts will feature a diverse group of musicians who demonstrate a range of musical talents that will appeal to the rocker in all of us. The Nature Center will hold a special concert this year for our youngest members and friends on Sunday, May 19th from 2:00 – 4:00 featuring a double billing with two of Atlanta’s top children’s music performers, Mr. Jason and Mr. Parker of Opus One Music.
