Those who live and work in Dunwoody are invited to review and share thoughts on a roadmap for future development in Perimeter Center.
Dunwoody, GA – September 28, 2022– After eight months of community input and review, the City of Dunwoody invites residents to the fall Open House for Edge City 2.0 to share thoughts on a community-supported roadmap for future development in Perimeter Center. The Open House is a drop-in event on Thursday, October 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dunwoody City Hall.
“We want to approach future development in Perimeter Center with eyes wide open and shape our future with a market-feasible and aspirational roadmap. Growth is inevitable and already happening, so it’s important to put forth and pursue a vision of how we want to grow” said Dunwoody Economic Development Director Michael Starling. “From what we’ve heard from the community so far, priorities include walkability, outdoor entertainment spaces, and connected greenspace.”
The roadmap reflects current conditions and considers what the next 20 years could look like for retail, restaurants, entertainment, trails, parks, office, transportation, hotels, and housing. Community input has been solicited and shared in many ways:
- Spring Open House – March
- Online survey – March/April
- Perimeter Popup – April
- Community stakeholders’ workshops – March/July/September
- Interviews with city officials, property owners, and business leaders – March/May
- Public presentations to Council – June/August
“Perimeter Center was built as a suburban retail and office market with a lot of asphalt for parking,” Starling added. “Today, those patches of underutilized asphalt are opportunities for redevelopment. A thriving Perimeter Center keeps Dunwoody strong.”
Edge City is a joint effort between the City of Dunwoody and the Perimeter Community Improvement District (CID), and it’s being carried out in close coordination with a consultant team led by Pond & Company. Those unable to attend the Oct. 20 Open House can share their thoughts using an online survey that will be shared and posted on the project website after the meeting: www.dunwoodyedge.com
