The detention pond at Dunwoody High School is being cleared of its vegetation. This is actually a GOOD thing, as its current state does not comply with stormwater management practices. This is a complete change of direction and acknowledgment of responsibility from DCSD. Thank you Anna Hill, Board of Education District 1, DeKalb County School District for bringing this to the Superintendent’s attention!

From the GA Stormwater Management Manual:
“3.4.1.1 General Description Dry detention and dry extended detention (ED) basins are surface facilities intended to provide for the temporary storage of stormwater runoff to reduce downstream water quantity impacts. These facilities temporarily detain stormwater runoff, releasing the flow over a period of time. They are designed to completely drain following a storm event and are normally dry between rain events.”
