DUNWOODY, GA – Chesnut Charter Elementary School will be able to replace stolen archery sets after community leaders and local businesses donated as much as $1,700.
The fundraising effort was prompted by the theft of seven bows from the school’s gym in May.
DeKalb County School Police identified and charged two boys, ages 15 and 18, in the case.
Chesnut’s archery program was started using a grant from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
It’s supported by the National Archery in the Schools Program, which provided 50 percent of the initial funding after The Friends of Chesnut Foundation, Inc. decided to start the program for students in fourth and fifth grades.
