  1. Responses to: Did you like the series finale of Downton Abbey?
    92.5% YES
    2.5 % NO
4.3% Other (most in this category haven’t seen YET)

Thankful we weren’t left with any tragic surprises!
May have been a little unrealistic in that EVERYONE had a happy ending – not really true to life!
Loved that everything got wrapped up and everyone is happy!
Was happy with the finale, but I thought the episode before that set up the finale was the best!
Poor Mr. Barrow. Everyone signed off with a potential love interest but him. At least now he has a cushy job…
    Loved it!
    But wanted more!
Edith is finally happy. Honesty did pay off! Lady Mary has softened at little and Mr. Carson will be taken care of. Loved it.
It was sweet and non controversial.
Yes and no. They packed a lot in for one show. I wish they could have spread it out over more episodes.

I did love that the Grandmother had the last line! Very fitting…I will miss her the most
But I still am very sorry to see it end. I would like a sequel.
Aaarrrrrggghhhh! My Direct TV went out for only a few channels including PBS so I have to wait and hope and pray that they rebroadcast it!
    I love happy endings!
    Couldn’t something go wrong?
Thought it was nice that the series ended happy for everyone.
    So sad~
Nicely woven plot endings. Happy note.
    loved it
It was great! Love a happy ending for all.
I admit to a tear or two when they began singing Auld Lang Syne- what a great way to wind it up! Good for Mrs. Hughes-Carson!
A little sappy but glad they all seemed to end up in a good place.
I think they tied up the story lines and I kind of know where the story goes from the end.
    I watched it all
So sumptuous but a little emotionally flat. The next to the last episode was much better.
All upbeat and “happy endings” and “new beginnings” which was a pleasant surprise. Auld Lang Syne so appropriate!
    Too contrived
    Sorry to say goodbye
They tied a bow on all of the story lines. Because of that, there wasn’t as much drama as usual. And Anna’s baby must have been the fastest birth ever recorded in 1925.
There were many possible outcomes but the ending at least left us with some peace of mind since there would not be another series.
Perhaps just a bit too much tied up in a bow.
My wife was so happy I thought she was going to cry. 🙂
Edith was finally happy and with a position higher than Mary’s!!!
Call me a sap, but I like happy endings. I was so glad to see Edith and Mrs. Crawley happy!
I thought it was a wonderful way to end the series with live in the air!
It’s like there was a check list of problems to solve. I never know the time frame of events.
It was too short!! They promised us 2 hours and only gave us 1.5! While it wrapped everything up nicely, I wanted more. I wasn’t ready.
Glad to see everything settled finally!
All the loose ends were tied up nicely … and happily. Although I am concerned about the fate of Carson!

    Respondent Commentary:
I always liked Tom’s self-confidence, humble but sure of himself.
So sad to see this show end! Sunday nights just won’t be the same!
This was hard to narrow down to only 3!
Wow! Tough choices to make. I might as well put the names of ALL the characters on a dartboard and throw darts with my eyes closed to make my choices.
Love them all – even Thomas!
The spat btwn Danka and Spratt
Actually I thought all of them were excellent.
    Like losing friends…
The Dowager for her pithy & timely comments; Thomas & Daisy for striving to rise above their situations with good results. A good lesson for everyone no matter your station i life.
Have some partiality to Maggie Smith so if pressed I would pick Violet.
I honestly didn’t have one favorite.
    THe ensemble was terrific.
I did have some I disliked.
Loved all of them!!! The Dowager was the best!!!
I would rewind whenever these characters said anything that I missed
    could have checked many more
I loved Spratt. He could be a come-back story.
Tom had come a “long way baby”!! How wonderful that Edith found happiness. She was gorgeous in her wedding gown! I love how Violet and Isobel barged into the house to get Dickie!! Glad to see Barrow find acceptance at the end! Thomas over Bates…interesting!! Daisy’s hair looked SUPER!
Maggie Smith as the Dowager Countess is my all-time favorite. I particularly liked the scene where she finally talked some sense into Mary about Henry Talbot and falling in love! So sarcastic, cynical and yet so wise at the same time!
Also loved Daisy & Mes. Patmore.
    Only three?
Thomas was the most misunderstood character.
Last night, four of us 70-year old former hippies all gathered at our Ya-Ya Sister’s home and watched on a king size bed with a box of tissues. It was an epic event! Feeling the loss this morning. We have watched since Season 1. Sunday nights will never be the same.
