Over the course of my lifetime, I’ve owned several versions of cameras with film, then multiple types of digital cameras from pocket-sized to an amazing NIKON with an extremely long lens. We also own various video recording devices starting with VHS recording tapes then onto CDs and DVD recordings. Now I also have millions of photos and videos on my current iPhone and who knows how many iPhones I’ve gone through since my first one. Where are all the photos and videos????
Well, mine are in scrapbooks, crates, boxes, external hard drives, stored in the cloud somewhere…What a mess?!
Thank heavens for Deb Murphy of Your Photographic Memories. She reached out to me to explain her business and I invited her over ASAP. For our first meeting, I pulled out all of my scrapbooks, photo albums, my huge container of loose photographs, all of the video recorders I’ve ever owned, the tapes/discs that accompany them plus a couple of external hard drives full of photos! There were enough photographic memories to cover my dining room table and floor!
I was kind of embarrassed at the chaos but Deb seemed to think my photo mess was fairly normal. We decided that the first project would involve all of my video recordings. Deb left my house with a couple of boxes of VHS tapes, CDs, DVDs, and all of my recording equipment. At first I felt kind of weird giving it all to her but she was so careful with everything and labeled it all and took pictures to inventory and I was convinced she would bring it back more organized and in a format I could watch it all with my family.
Well, I was right to trust Deb. After working her magic, she returned all of my video content back to me in an organized, well labeled, small container which is great for storage! It was all stored on a drive that we were able to also load onto my Mac! Last Christmas we spent hours watching my boys playing Murphey Candler football but the highlight was discovering our Krystal Burger eating contest with our fave family friends, The Douds. Now my fam of four and the Doud four all have this video on our iPhones so it will last in perpetuity.
The next step was for Deb to take my wedding album and each of the boys’ baby books. She kept the books intact but made copies of all the photos so that now I have them on my Mac AND on a disc. She organizes them by subject and date and it is so easy to find everything she’s touched!
I still have so much more to do but she’s taught me a few things I can do on my own and for the files she couldn’t access has pointed me in the right direction. I’m so glad that I’m on my way to having all my photographic memories at my finger tips to access and share whenever I want!
Who is this Deb person? She’s an amazingly organized Mom of two adopted sons. She lives in Chamblee and has such an interesting career history working for Turner Broadcasting Systems plus she’s published books and videos one of which was 25th on the bestseller list! Read more about Deb here.
