At the GMEA Orchestra Festival at Lakeside HS Tuesday evening both the Dunwoody Concert Orchestra and the Dunwoody Chamber Orchestra won top honors. Each participating orchestra is judged by three independent judges and is graded on a scale from 1 to 5, 1 (Superior) being the highest rank. Both of Dunwoody High School’s orchestras earned an overall superior rating.
The three day festival showcases over 30 orchestras from 22 different schools in the district. Each orchestra’s repertoire is given a difficulty rating from 1 to 6, with level 6 being the hardest. DHS’s Chamber Orchestra was one of only 3 groups to perform at level 6, which makes their superior rating even more of an achievement.
