Fifth grade technology students at The Davis Academy experienced a morning of learning with Microsoft technology experts, where they had the opportunity to apply their STEM knowledge as they discussed basic coding concepts, described how hardware and software work together, and completed coding challenges using Harry Potter Kano Coding Kit Wands. The exposure to these technology concepts and the tools that they used during the interactive session allowed students to think critically and further expand their technology skill sets.
The students who attended the coding workshop are Network Sherpas at The Davis Academy. The Network Sherpa program is an innovative leadership program launched by Davis Academy’s 21st Century Learning Coordinator, Stacy Brown, with the goal of giving Davis Academy students the opportunity to further explore their interests in technology.
“The Network Sherpa program develops student leaders and cultivates their technology skills by exposing them to unique opportunities to tinker with innovative technology both on and off campus, said 21st Century Learning Coordinator, Stacy Brown. “Exploring Microsoft technologies is one approach to strengthening their foundation in technology, further preparing them for the tech-centric world around us.”
