A note from the City of Dunwoody
Lane Reductions, Traffic Shifts Occurring Adjacent to State Farm Project Construction Site
Dunwoody, Ga. – February 10, 2015 – Construction crews working at the State Farm project site at Perimeter Center Parkway and Hammond Drive will temporarily reduce southbound traffic on Perimeter Center Parkway to one through lane at the Hammond Drive intersection.
Two southbound lanes on Perimeter Center Parkway will be closed and redirected to allow for expanded construction activity and access at the site. Traffic will be shifted to the east side of the Parkway between Hammond Drive and Goldkist Drive during construction. Construction crews will be creating tunnels beneath Perimeter Center Parkway to create access to the new building and parking deck.
Several benefits will be realized at the intersection once the site building construction is complete. The intersection will add a new northbound left turn lane from Perimeter Center Parkway and the new tunnel project will allow for improved safety and efficiency for motorists as they exit Perimeter Center Parkway and enter a dedicated tunnel for the facility parking deck.
The construction crews are working closely with the City of Dunwoody Public Works department to ensure traffic alterations and adjustments made during construction are safe and produce minimal impacts on area traffic. Access southbound on Perimeter Center Parkway will be available but motorists may want to plan alternative routes to avoid the area. Motorists, MARTA riders and pedestrians should obey all construction signs and use caution while in work zones.
Temporary lane reductions, along with potential road access adjustments, are expected to occur throughout the construction process over the next 10 months. The City of Dunwoody will continue to provide updates and alerts regarding future lane reductions and construction closures.
