Wet Wildcats go to GHSA State Meet following major successes at the County level!
THURSDAY/FRIDAY/SATURDAY
The Wet Wildcats head into the GHSA State Meet at Georgia Tech this weekend leading off Thursday with a team high five divers who have made the state cut (Abbey Yates, Emily Christensen, Savannah Maddux, Molly Taptich and Zack Humphries), followed by the swimmers on Friday and Saturday.
The DHS Swim and Dive team finished their regular season on a high note last Thursday with the girls repeating as county champions and the boys finishing third.
Girls take 1st & 2nd place at County Dive Meet – AGAIN!
Senior Abbey Yates (GT commit) took her 4th consecutive county dive title, and junior Emily Christensen took her 3rd consecutive 2nd place finish behind her teammate. These two girls have dominated the county meet the last few years and set the standard for our program.
Divers Zack Humphries (3rd) and JT Melton (5th) also had a strong showing at county.
Girls are champions at County Swim Meet
The swimmers continued the girls’ winning streak with first place finishes in a whopping 7 events: the 200 Medley Relay (Hannah Robison, Allie Reiter, Laura Spratling, Kaleigh McGrady), 200 IM (Allie Reiter), 50 Freestyle (Kaleigh McGrady), 100 Free (Kaleigh McGrady ), 500 Free (Megan Johnson), 200 Free Relay (Laura Spratling, Allie Reiter, Hannah Robison, Kaleigh McGrady), and 100 Brest (Allie Reiter). The girls piled on points: 200 IM (6th Sydney Prusak), 50 Free (6th Sydney Sloan), 100 Fly (4th Hannah Robison, 5th Sydney Prusak), 100 Free (6th Sydney Sloan), 500 Free (6th Lydia Fletcher), 100 Back (6th Claire Tannen, 9th Jennifer Kiser), 100 Breast (4th Ellie Eisenmesser), and capped it off with a 2nd place finish in the 400 Free Relay (Laura Spratling, Hannah Robison, Megan Johnson, Sydney Sloan) to dominate the meet.
Boys take 3rd place at County Swim Meet
The boys fought hard against dominant Chamblee and Lakeside teams and pulled out a strong third place finish. Christopher Thames had the only first place finish for the boys in the 100 back, but the team scored 2nd place finishes in the 200 Medley Relay (Christopher Thames, Ben Reiter, Juan Martinez, Paul Joyce), 200 Free (Christopher Thames), 50 Free (Juan Martinez), and 200 Freestyle Relay (Juan Martinez, Ben Reiter, Paul Joyce, Christopher Thames). They also got 3rd place finishes in the 100 Fly (Ben Reiter) and 100 Free (Juan Martinez) and scored points in the 200 IM (4th Ben Reiter, 8th Tyler Courtney), 50 Free (4th Ryan Polk), 100 Fly (8th Evan Maxwell), 100 Free (9th Ryan Polk), 500 Free (6th Max Hughes), 100 Back (7th Hamilton Griffin), 100 Breast (8th Paul Joyce, 10th Tyler Courtney), and 400 Free Relay (4th Max Hughes, Hamilton Griffin, Ryan Polk, Paul Joyce).
