The Spruill Center for the Arts is seeking a detail-oriented, well-organized, and community focused individual to join our team as our Community Programs and Event Coordinator. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in activating the facility and courtyard space with community-based programs and events.
As a member of our team, you will contribute to developing programs that help us to serve as a community center based on the arts and fulfill our mission of serving as a home for everyone to enjoy the arts. Your role is vital to the overall experience of our guests, artists, students, and visitors. Your dedication to creating an inclusive environment and to help create a place-based sense of community will directly impact the success and vibrancy of the Spruill Center for the Arts.
The Community Programs and Event Coordinator will plan, coordinate, and execute various programs that utilize the expanded facility space. These activities will generally fall into three categories: Arts based programming (lectures and speakers, art sales, open drawing sessions, critiques, etc.), Active space programming (yoga, bocce ball, tai chi, etc.), and community entertainment programming (music, performances, happy hours, art markets, etc.) but could also incorporate other areas. The ideal candidate will be able to utilize creative thinking to plan and produce these events while managing various activities and timelines.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience with event production or a similar role.
• Knowledge of event management, planning and operations.
• Ability to work with well with others and unify team members to work together.
• Well-organized with a proven ability to manage tasks efficiently.
• Friendly and welcoming demeanor for positive visitor interactions.
• Excellent prompt and professional communication skills.
• Physical fitness to lift up to 25 pounds unaided and up to 50 pounds with assistance.
• Demonstrated ability to make competent decisions when working independently.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The Community Programs and Event Coordinator is a year-round, hourly position, typically requiring approximately 20 hours per week to plan, coordinate, and administer programs and events. The Spruill Center for the Arts operates seven days a week throughout the year, and this role includes working onsite at events, which primarily occur on Saturdays, Sundays, and weekday evenings.
Outside of event days, the position will follow a set hybrid schedule, with a mix of on-site and remote work for planning and administrative tasks. Additional hours may be required leading up to and during the execution of events. The role also requires availability to attend two staff meetings a month, typically held on Mondays. Collaboration with other Spruill staff, including the Facility Manager and Director of Education, is essential for scheduling and organizing events. Flexibility in scheduling is particularly important for required key annual events like Artistic Affair and Spirits for Spruill, as well as when additional duties are assigned.
The position necessitates the physical ability to perform job functions with or without accommodation. This includes the ability to lift up to 25 pounds unaided and 50 pounds or more with assistance, as well as the capacity to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods.
