The City of Dunwoody invites residents, property owners, business owners, and all other members of the Dunwoody community to share their hopes, dreams and concerns for the future of Dunwoody at two “Setting Our Vision” Community Goals Workshops this February and March that will lay the foundation for the five-year update of the City’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan, Shape Dunwoody:
Workshop 1
Thursday, February 26 (6:30-8:30pm)
Kingswood United Methodist Church, Room 212 (Community Life Center)
5015 Tilly Mill Road, Dunwoody, GA 30338
Workshop 2
Monday, March 2 (6:30-8:30pm)
Dunwoody Library

Community members are encouraged to attend and come ready to share their ideas. The workshops will be hands-on, focused on collecting input about the city’s future, specifically the overarching long-term vision and community goals for land use and other service areas provided by the city. Topics to be explored include aging in place, Dunwoody’s unique identity, jobs-housing balance, future land use, transportation enhancements, and city infrastructure/services. The workshops are the first two in a series of six that will be held through June to gather input for the plan update.
The Shape Dunwoody planning process will collect input over a five-month period to help inform the five-year update of the city’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan. Modifications to the plan will be shaped public input as well as technical analysis completed by the planning team. Subsequent workshops will focus on priority needs, the five-year work program, and review of the draft plan update. The updated plan will be reviewed by both the Atlanta Regional Commission and Department of Community Affairs prior to being considered for action by the City Council. Four additional public workshops are planned for the first half of 2015 and will be followed by public hearings.
The City’s existing Comprehensive Land Use Plan was developed in 2010, shortly after Dunwoody incorporated. The Comprehensive Land Use Plan is the preeminent legal document guiding future development in Dunwoody. The Comprehensive Land Use Plan provides the city with a roadmap on long-range policy direction for land use, transportation, economic development, housing, public facilities, inter-governmental agreements along with its natural and cultural resources. The update will address each of these planning areas while giving a special focus to economic development.
