Who is Bagel Rescue: Bagel Rescue is a non-profit organization supporting hunger relief in the metro Atlanta area by connecting restaurants with excess food – specifically bagels – to neighbors in need. Through generous donations from local bakeries, volunteers deliver bagels to food pantries, shelters, feeding programs, and community outreach efforts. Our goal is to reduce food waste and support hunger relief, one bagel at a time.

Purpose:
The Community Engagement Coordinator & Marketing Specialist will work alongside the Executive Director to manage Bagel Rescue’s communications strategy, enhance volunteer and community partnership engagement, and support the logistical operations of rescue routes. This dynamic and multi-faceted role includes work in social media, general marketing, fundraising, and volunteer management.

Job Responsibilities:
Coordinate bagel routes, including using volunteer portal and communicating with bagel shops, volunteers, and partner agencies to train volunteers and ensure community needs are met.
Develop and manage social media posts and engagement on all Bagel Rescue channels; includes ideating post ideas, graphically designing them, drafting content, posting, and strategically connecting with other community partners.
Support marketing efforts including development and execution of fundraisers and donor and volunteer appreciation initiatives.
Assist with grant-writing and follow-up.
Coordinate and facilitate scheduled Bagel Rescue workshops in the community, including communicating with partners to ensure advance logistics are accounted for smooth operations on day of.
Attend community events as a representative of Bagel Rescue.
Drive routes as necessary throughout metro Atlanta, many of which will start from Brookhaven.

Excellent and effective communicator in writing, on the phone, and in-person
Flexible thinker who is able to handle many moving pieces
Collaborative, positive, and passionate about addressing food waste and food insecurity
Technologically savvy
Skilled in social media platforms
Basic graphic design (preferably using Canva)
Self-starter who can work independently
Valid driver’s license and personal insurance

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
20 hours a week – The exact schedule will vary week-to-week and will require flexibility to adjust schedule as demands require. Some weekend hours are included occasionally.
Approximately 5-10 hours driving routes, attending events, or securing supplies
Approximately 5 hours on social media (work from home)
Approximately 5-10 hours on other tasks (work from home)

Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs of bagels and move them in-and-out of cars/freezers/delivery locations.

Opportunity Benefit:
The Community Engagement Coordinator & Marketing Specialist will be involved in every aspect of Bagel Rescue from operations and development, to business and finance. This part-time role will give hands-on experience working in the grassroots non-profit hunger relief space. This position offers exposure in multiple areas of non-profit management and community engagement that intersect to make food rescue a reality. In addition to gaining organizational,logistical, and communication skills, the role grants creative experience in marketing, social media, and event-based projects. The Community Engagement Coordinator and Marketing Specialist reports to the Executive Director and the Bagel Rescue Board of Directors.
