The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics
by Daniel James Brown
I hesitate to make this the book of the week only because I’m not finished yet. However, I’m enjoying it immensely and wanted to share with you “HOW” I’m reading it…..… Read More »
I loved this book as you can tell by my earlier review. We had a blast with Aha! Subscribers and friends at Vino Venue on Monday night at the official book launch party and all of us there received an autographed copy. … Read More »

This is our next Meadowlake Book Club pick. I read it in 2013 and really enjoyed it. It received 4/5 stars on Amazon and a 3.68/5 on Goodreads. Beautiful Ruins is the story of an almost-love affair that begins on the Italian coast in 1962…and is rekindled in Hollywood fifty years later.… Read More »
The start of summer marks the beginning of “beach read” season and USA Today bestselling author Wendy Wax is kicking it off big time with a brand new book, A Week at the Lake, and a “come one, come all” party to celebrate. The fun begins at 8 pm on Monday, June 22, at Vino Venue in Dunwoody with books, wine and desserts as the Ten Beach Road author and readers join in to raise a glass in celebration of the launch of her latest novel.… Read More »
This little library could now use a little paint to protect the bare wood. I know that we have creative artists in the community so if you have the talent & time to donate, I will pay for the supplies from my city expense account (if allowed). If interested, please email me with your thoughts, I will clear with city staff and if necessary convene a panel to possibly judge the entries.… Read More »
Wendy Wax books are always an excellent choice for the beach so when she gave me an advance copy of her upcoming book just before I headed to the gulf, I was thrilled! I don’t want to give away too much of the story but I want to point out that near the beginning of the book these friends are all in the hospital rooting for someone to recover from a brain injury. … Read More »

Ladies Night by Mary Kay Andrews was our Meadowlake Book Club May choice. In fact, we were discussing this book at Libby’s house when the now famous Dunwoody walker/talker, Stephanie Kayhan first mentioned her conversation with Tiffany the Traffic Stopper.
How appropriate that my “ladyfriends” from Meadowlake were discussing “LadiesNight” the book and began discussing the “traffic ladies“? … Read More »
I’d love to know your book recommendations! Y’all know I’m an avid reader and your suggestions are coveted. Have kids who love to read? Tell me how old they are and what they can’t put down! Please!!
This is very simply the best book I have read in at least a year. After reading 11 books so far in 2015, this one is sitting all by itself waaaay up on top of my faves for 2015. If you don’t understand what people mean when they describe books as “beautifully written”, then read this book for an example. … Read More »
Book of the Week Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
This book is what I’d refer to as an addictive page turner! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Many are comparing it to Gone Girl and I definitely see the similarities. Being inside Rachel’s mind is heart breaking but I found myself desperately flipping the pages to figure out what the heck was going on!
Here’s a good description from Amazon:
“The “girl on the train” is Rachel, who commutes into London and back each day, rolling past the backyard of a happy-looking couple she names Jess and Jason.… Read More »
