Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a person who hates laundry. Anyone who really knows me, may have even borne witness to my laundry sofa or mountain. I don’t know whether to be proud or embarrassed by the ease at which my children know to hunt for things in the clean laundry pile.… Read More »
Let’s talk about Cafe Sababa. I’m not sure how I didn’t know about this little gem until my friend, Felicia, mentioned it. I’ve walked past it numerous times on the way to Simply Thai, another one of my Dunwoody favorites. Cafe Sababa offers Mediterranean and middle eastern dishes made fresh and super delicious.… Read More »
Do you like fried chicken? Of course you do. My oldest daughter and I love Gus’s Fried Chicken in Sandy Springs. (There’s one in Chamblee, but I haven’t been to that one). The first thing you should know about Gus’s is that the chicken has a little bit of a kick, and that’s not for everyone.… Read More »
While you’re in Sandy Springs, say between 6 PM – 9 PM on Thursdays and Sundays or 6 PM – 10 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, you need to check out El Elote. They sell some of the best elote in Atlanta from a tent in the parking lot outside of the hatchet throwing place.… Read More »
Well, my youngest child started kindergarten today. She is kind of a handful, so I had LOTS of emotions. (Y’all go ahead and add Ms. Davison to your prayer list). Instead of eating tacos filled with feelings while standing over my kitchen sink, I opted to rally my friends and meet for lunch at Vino Venue, because they serve lunch now.… Read More »
My new favorite place to lunch. I’m not sure why I haven’t tried this place sooner; probably because the idea of my child with selective hearing cooking her own food in a pot of boiling broth makes my eye twitch. Spoiler alert…it went really well. Hot pot is a Chinese method of cooking a variety of foods in broth at the table.… Read More »
Poke city is open Publix Dunwoody Hall shopping center. If you aren’t familiar with poke, it is traditionally, a Hawaiian raw fish salad. If you love sushi, you will love poke. Choose a base (white or brown rice or salad greens), multiple proteins, veggies, dressing and toppings. I really liked Poke City because they also offered cooked protein options like chicken and shrimp for those who can’t bring themselves to do raw.… Read More »
I have strong opinions about BBQ. I never realized it until I left for Clemson and South Carolinians would emphatically insist that their mustard based BBQ was the best in the country. Perhaps if their insistence wasn’t so unfettered that it was the BEST in the WHOLE country or maybe if I hadn’t been so young and homesick, but alas, my opinions on BBQ began to shape with equal conviction.… Read More »
This past Easter, my family friend, Chris Turner, asked me if I’d heard of the Buford Highway Shuffle, knowing my love of Buford Highway. I was immediately intrigued and found the non-profit, We Love BuHi. We Love BuHi’s goal is to strengthen the “multicultural fabric of the Buford Highway corridor through storytelling, special events and advocacy.”… Read More »
Crafthall Kitchen is open in Sandy Springs (the shopping center next to REI and Tiff’s Treats). It is multiple restaurant concepts under one roof. Currently, the options are Fowl and Scratch, a gourmet fried chicken place; Bowl Cookhouse, nutritious ingredients…in a bowl; Urban Sammie, a globally inspired sandwich place; and Salt and Pfeffer, an all day brunch spot.… Read More »
Well, Dunwoody, it appears we skipped Spring and fast forwarded to Summer. The warmer weather usually serves as a reminder that I should get moving since I am about as active as a mushroom, but luckily, I have Press, Blend, Squeeze to help get me back on track. Matt and Nicole, owners of Press, Blend, Squeeze “want to make healthy food and beverage choices easily accessible for everyone, while helping to educate consumers on specific ingredient benefits.”… Read More »
