Hammocks Trading Co.~ Foodie Frenzy-Week #15

Hopefully everyone saw Audra’s previous post that I made the “difficult” decision to give up Buford Highway restaurants for Lent. The BH dives have become that favorite blankie for me that I just can’t seem to put away. Lent is the perfect time to start the weaning process and jump into a new theme. Until April 5, we will be in hot pursuit of good restaurants with a seafood/fish focus.… Read More »

Foodie Frenzy-Week #14-The Crawfish Shack Seafood Restaurant

With all the high-end seafood restaurants in Atlanta, I have long sought after a reasonably priced, casual seafood place that wasn’t Red Lobster. The Crawfish Shack Seafood Restaurant tucked away in a strip center near the old Jim Hearn driving range on Buford Highway was quite a pleasant find. From the moment we opened the door and saw the beautiful array of fresh seafood, fun décor picnic table seating and many accolades on the wall, Audra quickly predicted that this joint would be one of our favorites.… Read More »

Nothing says “Happy Holidays” like food from Bangladesh! Well, maybe not so much, but it was for The Aha! Connection staff holiday party! In true thoughtful Audra fashion, she wanted to get the group together for some lively holiday cheer. Leigh (who came in from Birmingham), The Aha! unnamed Style Moment Editor, Audra and I thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to have an evening of lots of laughter, satisfied bellies and relaxed feet!… Read More »

Woo Nam Jeong Korean Stone Bowl House (Buford Highway Foodie Frenzy #11)

Foodie Frenzy #11 Woo Nam Jeong Korean Stone Bowl House
The Fun and Fearless Edition!

Let me preface this article by saying that my food radar was slightly overshadowed by the lively conversation this week. I knew the food would be impressive, but had no idea what to expect from our guests whom I had never met.… Read More »

The Sweet Hut Bakery & Cafe (Buford Highway Foodie Frenzy #10)

Immediately after leaving Bo Bo Garden and with not much arm-twisting at all, Audra agreed to a visit to the Sweet Hut across the street from Bo Bo Garden. It is recommended on Atlanta Eats. Plus, the swirly pink awnings had caught our attention for several weeks in a row. I had read that they were known for theirTaiwanese bubble tea (which we didn’t try) and their amazing pastries.… Read More »

Desta Ethiopian Kitchen: (Foodie Frenzy #9)

I have met the love of my life! Well, that might be a bit dramatic given that I am a married girl of 16 years. However, I can say that, on Monday, I met a new found love in a very unexpected cuisine. Ethiopian!

While visiting recently with friends, Lelia and Michael Bryan (Owners of Dunwoody’s fabulous Vino-Venue) , we were discussing the Frenzy and all the places we had indulged.… Read More »

Bo Bo Garden (Buford Highway Foodie Frenzy #8)

Week 8, and we’re still loving every minute of the Frenzy! Several people have asked about how we choose the restaurants we visit. It’s actually something I have become quite passionate about and, well, borderline obsessed! I pour through food blogs, restaurant reviews and especially love reader suggestions. I liken it to when you get on Face Book to check a quick feed and then four hours later you realize what just happened.… Read More »

Pho Dai Loi #2 ( Vietnamese Pho Specialist–Buford Highway Foodie Frenzy #7)

We had such an interesting outing this week! I hope I can do it justice!

Both Audra and I were so humbled when one of our “dream” guests said yes to us this week. I was nervous about finding a good fit restaurant for our outing because I always try and pare the restaurant with a cuisine that I know our guest will enjoy.… Read More »

Canton House Chinese Dim Sum (Buford Hwy Foodie Frenzy #6!)

Foodie Frenzy – Week 6! Canton House Chinese Dim Sum

Flashback 20+ years to recent college graduates, Audra and Patty, who planned an “educational” trip up the California coast with the final destination being San Francisco. On the list of things to-do was find a good dim sum restaurant in famed China Town. Following the advice of either Fodor’s or Let’s Go, which were the travel bibles at the time, we ended up at House of Nan King.… Read More »

Casa Vieja (Authentic Columbian Cuisine)

Week 5! La Casa Vieja (the Old House) and that it was!

When we began our little food foray, I didn’t realize just how much we would bounce around the world.   Very exciting! Let me give a quick review of all the countries we have visited…Mexico, Korea, Vietnam, China and now Columbia! What fun? I am befuddled by why they won’t update my passport with these stamps, but whatever!… Read More »

Gu’s Bistro (Buford Highway Authentic Szechuan Chinese)

Authentic Szechuan Chinese Restaurant

Everyone knows that Audra is a good southern girl who loves her Auburn Tigers and OHS (Opelika High School). I am very similar in my love of AU but my HS allegiance differs because I love my Tucker Tigers!  When September rolls in, so many of us are immersed in the Friday, Saturday and Sunday action on the gridiron.… Read More »

Nam Phoung II Vietnamese Restaurant (Buford Highway Foodie Frenzy #3)

Audra and I are having a blast with our new “public service” endeavor Ha! Hopefully y’all are gaining as much from our blog as is my bathroom scale! That is my true meter of success.

For week 3, we decided to think a bit outside the box. Hmmm…what is better than a foodie frenzy, but a foodie frenzy with FriendZ!!!… Read More »
