BROOKHAVEN, Ga – A change at a major Brookhaven intersection has caught some commuters by surprise, but city leaders say they had nothing to do with the change.

Millions of gallons of raw sewage gushed from a broken pipe in Brookhaven for nine straight days this month, pouring dangerous pollutants into Nancy Creek, before workers finally put a stop to DeKalb County’s largest spill in more than a decade.

The Brookhaven City Council has adopted an ordinance allowing Brookhaven residents to keep chickens and other domestic fowl in a limited capacity within the city, as well as allow limited beekeeping under certain conditions.

DeKalb County fire officials had to rescue a Brookhaven family from their own home Tuesday.
The family, including a baby, had to be rescued when the strong afternoon storms caused flash flooding in their neighborhood, flooding their home along Warren Hill Drive.
