Wanted to share with you that this Saturday, April 16th, is the Captain Planet Foundation’s Earth Day Kids’ Fest at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. Pebble Tossers will be have a booth and putting on a Community Service Project to “Recycle for a Reason”. We’re collecting gently worn shoes to send to Haiti. Shoes can be kid through adult sizes and we’ll prepare them for shipment to Haiti in our booth. As we’ve learned, kids in Haiti are required to wear shoes in order to go to school, yet so few own a pair of shoes. This re-purposing of the shoes, not only keeps them out of landfills, but provides an opportunity for an education!
Earth Day Kids’ Fest is from 10 am to 3 pm. The hands-on fun includes, painting rain barrels, meeting Atlanta Falcon Ovie Mughelli and playing his “Recycling on the Run”, meeting Captain Planet, organic gardening, dancing to the drums of Ritmo Blu, seeing the Chattahoochee Nature Center’s wild animals up close, and so much more. Tickets are $8 adults, $5 for kids, Under 2 is free. If you ride your bike, you get in free.

This weekend is the 9th annual Earth Day Kids Fest sponsored by Captain Planet Foundation. We are particularly excited because at the event, Laura Turner Seydel, chairperson of the Captain Planet Foundation, and Debbie Smith, creator of the Idbids characters, will be having a book signing with our first book, Lola’s A to Z Garden Guide.
Lola’s A to Z Garden Guide was a collaborative effort between Laura Turner Seydel and Idbids. There are a limited number of books and we’d appreciate your support of Captain Planet Foundation and Idbids. For a $20 donation to the Captain Planet Foundation, you will get a signed book, an Idbids plush toy and an organic Idbids tote bag.
The event is Saturday, April 16th, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and the book signing will begin at 11:00 a.m. The event is at the Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell.
