CALLING SOCIAL BRIDGE-LOVERS: Free event on August 30 to “Up your game” by learning Duplicate Bridge

If you’re a social bridge-lover who’s ever thought about “upping your game” by learning duplicate bridge, there’s a free session on August 30 that is made for you.

The Duplicate Bridge Association of Atlanta will host a morning event that will start with the basics and climax with an official game at which you can qualify for your first competitive points.

The session will be held from 10a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Ravinia Hotel at 4365 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Dunwoody,GA 30346, right across the street from Perimeter Mall. Please come by at 9:30 am to register.

Players will be divided into groups depending on their bridge experience. Once they learn the basics, they will play a sanctioned American Contract Bridge League game with masterpoints for the top performers. They will also receive information to get them started and help find a club or teacher. Refreshments and door prizes will be provided.

“The DBAA holds these events every couple of years, and as a result we have had many new players to join the ranks of duplicate bridge enthusiasts,” said Marty Nathan, President of the DBAA. “We are asking all our members to tell a friend about the session and we hope to see a lot of bridge-lovers.”

The group asks that players pre-register by emailing Sue Williams at szw2584@gmail.com. Walk-ins are welcome as long as space is available.

The event will be held just before the beginning of the group’s Labor Day Regional tournament.
