The Brookhaven Bucks baseball team will host five games in eight days at Oglethorpe University starting Friday, June 28. The homestand includes two games vs. the Alpharetta Aviators (June 28-29), two games vs. the Choccolocco Monsters (July 1 and 3) and one vs. the Gainesville Gol’Diggers (July 5). All games start at 6:35 p.m.
The Bucks are part of the Sunbelt Baseball League, a summer collegiate wooden-bat league, funded in part by Major League Baseball, with teams in Georgia and Alabama. The regular season runs through July 20 and playoffs will be held from July 23 through August 3.
Top college players from around the country participate in the Sunbelt League. Nearly 50 former Bucks players have gone on to play professional baseball and the team even has an alumnus playing for the Savannah Bananas.
This year’s team includes Dunwoody native Dawson Stevens (Mount Vernon School/Georgia Gwinnett College).
Bucks home games are family friendly and include in-game entertainment for children, including a water balloon home run derby, face painting, player autographs and running the bases. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids. Antlers Up!
