Brookhaven, GA, Aug. 23, 2016 – Briarwood Park will serve as a collection site for victims of the recent flooding in Louisiana.
“It is my belief the residents of Brookhaven will rise to the occasion as they have in the past and be very supportive of this truly worthwhile effort,” said District 4 Councilmember Joe Gebbia.
Baton Rouge, LA, and its surrounding areas have experienced a devastating loss of property – the Red Cross has stated that it’s the worst natural disaster to hit the United States since Hurricane Sandy. Some 20,000 people are without homes, at least 13 people have died, and numerous pets are lost and homeless. Donations will be accepted Thursday, Aug. 25, through Friday, Sept. 9, at Briarwood Park Community Center, 2235 Briarwood Way. The center is open Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-9 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Sunday, 1-6 p.m.
