I can’t even remember why I chose to purchase this book. It was probably one of those buy 3 get two free specials at Barnes and Noble that I bought and stuck on my shelf to gather dust due to my preference of reading on my Kindle. In order to protect my precious Kindle, I grabbed The Winter Sea and took it to the hottest place on earth (Ft. Myers, FL) for a baseball trip this summer. Unfortunately the “Winter” in the title didn’t make it any colder in that godforsaken south Florida city. But I digress….
Admittedly it took several chapters in before I fell in love. But, fall in love is exactly what happened! Here’s the deal, I love historical fiction and I’m a recent Scottish history junkie (thank you Diana Gabaldon). Lo and behold this book is set in Scotland with both present day and simultaneous past story lines. Being set in two time periods with a romantic relationship in each makes it feel like you are reading two books at once. Pure heaven for me! I could hardly put it down waiting to see how/if the two worlds would collide. The ending is perfection!
Would you like to read my well worn copy? I’ll give away to a lucky winner next week as long as they promise to pass it forward! Just leave a comment on this post if you’d like to read it next!
Wow, I loved Outlander so would be thrilled to get your copy of The Winter Sea (which the library doesn’t have). Thanks!
